Americae Takeover

April 20, 2019

I am delighted to share my highlight of the week with all of you: taking over Americae's Instagram to show how I embody the Americae woman through style, success, scholarship, and service (obv the four points of the Miss America crown #YASSSSQUEEN). Founded by Colombia-born Gabriela Guaracao, this women's designer clothing company draws its fashion inspiration from Latin America's vibrant culture of character, quality, and craftsmanship. Their mantra is Reality is Extraordinary, Dress Accordingly. Be sure to give them a follow @theamericae for some modern elegance inspiration:

People always ask me how I balance everything, from residency life to getting my MBA and social media/blogging. Time management is like picking out an outfit: you need to have your basics before you can accessorize. Once you've mastered these top priorities, you can start to add as you see fit. Surround yourself with a wardrobe of happiness, from blending the right colors and patterns to spending time doing things that fulfill you.

The Americae woman is all about being bold, strong, and confident on both the inside and outside. That means dressing the way you feel. I had a blast featuring my favorite ways to style their gorgeous pink off the shoulder blouse for work, weekend, and vacation.

A Cinderella Ball

Last week's Morris Animal Refuge Fundraiser Ball felt like the ultimate Cinderella experience. It was also the perfect opportunity to channel my inner princess before all the festivities began. With City Hall as our backdrop, the talented Rachel Gord of @rgordphoto captured everything I love about Philadelphia: the streets, the history, the art, and the people.

I felt like Carrie Bradshaw's other half as Rachel worked her magic and turned Center City into my very own catwalk.

It was a dream come true, being able to show off all my favorite places and still make it to the ball on time with the help of my Fairy Godmother, Badgley Mischka.

There is no better way to give back to a community than to volunteer for a good cause. As an animal lover and someday soon-to-be puppy owner, I jumped at the opportunity to volunteer for America's oldest animal shelter's 22nd Annual Charitable Gala.

Also known as the Fur Ball, the event was a chance to dance the night away while raising money for a worthy cause: animals. The donations benefited America's oldest animal shelter including the Fostering and Adoption program, the Low Cost Spay and Neuter program, and the LifeSaver Fund.

Themed a "Night at the Circus" there were confections, games, and carnival stations at every corner of the venue, from Tarot readings to Cirque du Soleil inspired performances and even Miss Pennsylvania as the Strongest Woman.

No matter how busy my schedule gets, community service will always play a major part. From helping rescue four-legged friends to volunteering as medical coverage, I try to give back to the community as much as possible. It does not have to be a major commitment but I encourage each of you reading this to research ways to help out your neighborhood. Not only is it a rewarding experience and you get to meet great people (such as the amazing photographers Rachel Gord and Amit Gabai) but you might even fall in love:

What can I say? I'm a sucker for puppies and this one is adoptable! Check out Morris Animal Refuge to learn more about how you can adopt, volunteer and donate.
